Tutoring is NOT just for students who are struggling in the classroom or having problems in certain academic areas.
Tutoring can be a very powerful enrichment tool to excel learning and push students above and beyond grade level thinking and learning!
As a personal example, my son just finished Kindergarten, and at parent-teacher conferences before Christmas, I found out he was right on grade level in reading and math. I was very happy to hear that, but I knew he was capable of more, so I decided to use my skills as an educator to push him to be better.
After enrichment activities in reading and math, he was able to go from a Kindergarten reading level at Christmas Break, to a 2nd Grade reading level by the end of the school year! Additionally, instead of just being able to add simple numbers in his head through 10, he can now mentally add basically any two numbers under 100 together very quickly.
Each student is different, but with a little extra help, the sky is the limit!
I am located in the Thousand Oaks/Simi Valley Area, and I will travel up to 21 miles for in person tutoring sessions!
I will be utilizing Google Duo or Zoom for online sessions, so students must have access to reliable Wi-Fi as well as a tablet, cell phone, or computer.
I also a huge fan of Google Classroom as a way to share resources and give out/collect assignments, so making sure your student has an email address/account (preferably Gmail) would be greatly appreciated (but not required).
*** Gmail accounts are very simple to create, so if you need help creating one for your student, please let me know and I can walk you through it! ***
Yes! If you have more than one student who needs tutoring, we can make a plan and I can accommodate accordingly!
The short answer is, Mr. T and Mr. Naylor are, in fact, the same person… And that would be me!
My first name is Talen, so ever since I started teaching I've gone by Mr. T. It just sounds really cool and I feel like I'm part of the A-Team (parents, you should understand).
The "Mr. Naylor" part actually started as soon as I became the Computer Teacher at St. Patrick's. They are a little more formal than other schools, so I was politely asked if I could go by Mr. Naylor instead of Mr. T, and I had no problem with it at all!
So there it is... The super cool, yet very unimportant story as to why I'm known as both Mr. T, and Mr. Naylor. I do prefer Mr. T though, it's kind of like second-nature at this point.
